*Review* Furthermore: An Anthology

December 11th 2012
Title: Furthermore: An Anthology

Authors Links:

First off, I would like to say that I truly admire everyone that stood behind this book and donated their work to the sake of charity. It's because of people like you that make this world a better place. Each of you are a light in the middle of all this darkness, the shred hope that everyone needs. I hope that more people will be inspired from this wonderful idea and maybe just maybe help you guys publish a part two!

The moment I heard about the promo tour for this book, I knew I had to be a part of it! I have a personal connection to it really; I fought a battle with cancer (leukemia) and thankfully made it out alive. I was shocked when I learned ALL proceedings from this anthology will be donated to cancer research. I fully believe that with enough funding, one day a cure for cancer will be found.

The second best part of this book is the AUTHORS! I had wanted to check out most of their books and this was the perfect way to get a feel for their writing. Each short story is beautifully written and ties-in with the author's previous novels/series. Every author included in this anthology have their own unique writing and storytelling styles, I guarantee there is something in it for everyone! At times I found myself a bit confused because I haven't read any of the original stories; however now after reading this collection, I what to read ALL of the books they were based from! I just wish the stories were a bit longer, but of course they wouldn't be called short stories then would they? =-P

So what are you waiting for? Go buy this book, not only does benefit a good cause but it also will let you experience the works of so many great authors!

I just want to say...

Hi Book Lovers,

I wanted to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! I know I haven't posted much this month, I am truly sorry for that. Please let me explain; Stress has been an unwelcome friend of mine this past month. I switched from the night shift to the morning shift at my work. It has been a challenge because I have always been a night owl who stays up until the sun rises, now I am up and at work before it even has a chance to. I also came down with the flu last week and still have yet to fully recover. (I blame the waking up so darn early!) To make matters worse my dear grandmother Betty has been very ill and has been going to the hospital frequently. :( Seems like around this time every year a lot of terrible things happen :sighs: But moving on....

I have a lot of special things planned for you guys in the upcoming month, so I hope you stick around to check them out. :) I also want to do a giveaway, I promised to do one when I reached over 50 followers. At the time of this post I am at 60+, I can’t believe it! Each and every one of you rock! If you have a suggestion on what I should include in the giveaway, please leave a comment below! I want to make it special for you guys! :)

As always, I wish you all the best.  May your holidays be filled with happiness and joy!
Maybe a little hot cocoa and a good book as well!

Sincerely,
Helena

And now for some teasers…

“Emily Jenkins, corrupting young men. What would people say?” He tutted at me and as if by magic, I spotted an elderly lady walking along the pavement, scrunching up her nose to stare at us. – Surprise Visitor (The Darkness Through the Light Series)

When I thought I might make her lips too swollen from my rough need of her, I pulled away. Those half-open dark eyes could’ve pulled me into Hell, and I would’ve gladly followed with a stupid smile on my face. - Jeremy’s Heart (Saga of the Setti)

Even when you know it’s the right thing to do, running away from home is never easy. They’re not good people. I can’t stay here anymore. – The Runaway-Tawni’s Story (The Dwellers Saga)

He smiled and my heart melted. One look like that and I second guessed every decision I made. – Rift (The Syrenka Series)

I had to entertain myself somehow, and being around these ridiculous humans made me homesick for a land I left centuries ago. – Human Resources (The Lelia Marx Novels)

This too shall pass. I mentally repeated it over and over, hoping Nathaniel’s injury wasn’t as bad as my crumbling heart made it out to be. – The Sound of Love (The Kindrily Series)

Perhaps the hardest thing to accept about one’s fate is that it can take years to unfold. But when it does, it’s worth every second, every breath, and every dream. – Fate (Annabelle’s Story)

REVIEW & GIVEAWAY The Soul's Mark: HUNTED by Ashley Stoyanoff

First off, if you haven't read the first book (The Soul's Mark: FOUND) yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING for? Go read it! If you’re interested in reading my review you can find it here

I wanted to say how terribly sorry I am that this post is a day late, I have been having computer problems. (But to make up for the delay I added an extra day to the giveaway) I also wanted to give my sincere thanks to Ashley Stoyanoff for not only giving me the opportunity to read The Soul's Mark: HUNTED in advance but for also for the giveaways!

 GoodReads Summary:
When Amelia Caldwell learned that she was marked by a vampire’s soul, she did what any smart, self-preserving person would have done: tried to run. But thanks to the soulmate bond that tethered her mentally and emotionally to her vampire soulmate, Mitchell Lang, running was not an option and finding out she was a witch didn’t make her life any easier.

Now, Amelia has made peace with her new supernatural life and accepted her destiny with Mitchell, one of the most powerful vampires in the world. They are finally getting along but Amelia is sure he is hiding something—something big.

Little does she know that this is just the calm before the storm. When Mitchell’s former flame resurfaces and Eric’s dreams become distorted visions of his soulmate, hostility and tension threatens to tear their world apart.

Just when Amelia thinks life couldn’t get any crazier, vampires and humans start turning up dead. The killer—something more sinister and haunting than your run of the mill psychopath —is heading straight for their front door.

My Review:

I was so excited to read The Soul’s Mark: HUNTED that the wait for it just about killed me! Once I received it, I spent the greater part of an hour skipping up and down my hallway while screaming for joy. (I am pretty positive my neighbors think I am a nut job) I am pleased to say that the book exceeded all my expectations!  A splendid sequel that totally lived up to the first novel!

Ashley Stoyanoff has the ability to bring her characters and plot to life. Her writing flows flawlessly and feels realistic, making it hard to put down! I was able to visually picture every scenario, it almost felt like watching television. Absolutely mind-blowing, may I add.

What I enjoyed most was the development of Amelia and Mitchell. I have such a connection with them, I feel like I have known them forever. They both matured a great deal and finally seem to fully understand each other. I adore their relationship, even when it hits a bit of turbulence. I am utterly in love with Eric and really loved reading more about him this time around. I was also delighted that this book provided more details about the soulmate bond. I honestly wish humans could experience it!

This book took my every emotion by storm, it honestly exhausted me. (Not in a bad way) The action scenes had me at the edge of my seat with an ending that shocked me. I seriously had a hard time coping with what happened and wanted to curl up in a dark corner and sob uncontrollably.  A definite first for me! I NEED the next book in this series; the suspense is agonizing!
