Today I have something different for you guys. Lately, I've been reading out of my normal comfort zone and ventured on to adult literature. Erotica seems like a huge jump in regards to the genres of books I normally review, but as an avid reader I want to experience books from all walks-of-life. I understand if erotica is not your cup of tea, I wasn't even sure if it was mine at first. BUT I can promise that I will be diving into other genres that I normally shy away from. So stick around, there is bound to be something for you to enjoy coming very soon.

Without further delay... I present to you my first exotic review of: Driftwood Deeds by the charming and beautiful Laila Blake

When journalist Iris Ellis visits a sleepy seaside town to interview recluse screenwriter Paul Archer, he offers her insights into never acted upon fantasies of dominance and submission. Too curious to deny herself a taste of them, Iris gives herself up to Paul's gentle guidance, but when she realizes that a taste can never be enough, she must find the courage to ask for what she needs or risk losing it all.

My Review
Writing Style:
Laila Blake could write a to-do manual and I'm positive it would take my breath away. She is a phenomenal writer that can switch between genres effortlessly. My favorite aspect of her writing is her ability to express the emotions of her various characters. You can feel their joy, sadness, anger, confusion... it's like having a front role seat in their mind and seeing everything through their eyes. Laila Blake is a natural story teller that will take you on a journey you will never forget.

My opinion:
Driftwood Deeds is the second full exotic novel I've read but the first I've reviewed. Driftwood Deeds is a novella is for those of us curious about or new to BDSM. It caught my attention because it deals with BDSM and D/s. I have always found the idea behind BDSM completely intriguing yet very confusing. I've never understood how someone could be submissive, the dominance I can understand, but submissive? I was hoping this novel would help me understand and I am delighted to say that it did!

Iris Ellis is submissive, Paul Archer is dominate. Iris is much like me, curious but inexperienced. Paul however is extremely experienced. In a way he introduces Iris to the BDSM lifestyle. He does it in the most respectful way imaginable and eludes kindness frequently. He corrects Iris a few times and gives her tips on how to "let go". His gentle, yet stern nature truly will grow on you. I think he makes the perfect teacher and Iris the perfect student. They quickly form a trusting and loving relationship.

My favorite aspect of this novel was how Iris and Paul open up to each other. They both express their feelings on why they like being dominate/submissive. This novella isn't just about sex; it's about a state of mind. A state of feeling free and refreshed through pleasure mixed with a bit of pain. It's about trust, respect, and experimentation. It's actually quite a beautiful read.

I adore the ending. I wanted to shout for joy. Do a happy dance. I won't share what happens, but let's just say it doesn't disappoint. Driftwood Deeds has made me want to read more books that fall into this category... lucky for me Laila Blake has written more erotica. (Promoting at its finest. hehe)
