Short Story Weekly #14: A Hint of Cayenne by Decadent Kane

After much thought and consideration, I've decided to bring back Short Story Weekly for the entire month of October! If it goes well, I'll make it a permanent weekly feature. I've been reading a lot of short stories/novellas lately and have reviewed a few for tours; I plan on adding those reviews to the SSW tab located at the top of this blog. 

If you're a new reader or forgot what SSW is.... here's a quick rundown:  
Once a week (normally on the weekends) I'll read and review books with 200 or less pages. Most of the stories I choose are either available on Amazon for free or really cheap.

Today's story is A Hint of Cayenne by Decadent Kane! This is book four in The Trouble With Elves series, but keep in mind that each book in this series is written as stand-alone novella. So you can read the books in any order you choose.

MY REVIEW

Writing Style:

Decadent Kane's writing improves with each new installment of The Trouble With Elves series. As with the previous book I've read from her, A Hint of Cayenne peaked my interest and had me hooked from the first paragraph. I enjoyed taking the journey back the wonderfully intriguing and fascinating magical world of the elves. Some familiar names were mentioned early on that made my heart flutter with anticipation. (Reed, how I love you so!)

My Opinion:

Cayenne and Hawthorn waste no time getting acquainted with each other; the first sizzling hot scene happens within the first few chapters. I like an erotic novel that gets down and dirty quickly because it makes me crave more as the story proceeds. This one definitely fits the bill. The sexual tension runs rampant each time they meet; the confidence they boast will have you dripping with desire for the next steamy session. I couldn't get enough of it!

Don't fret this book's plot has more subsistence, it's not all erotica with no story. That is another thing I enjoy about Kane's books... they are sizzling reads with genuinely unique story-lines.  Cayenne and Hawthorn are bounty hunters for rogue or demented creatures of the elven world. A dangerous job without a doubt, but also one that can provide them with the money they need. Hawthorn is the veteran hunter while Cayenne is a newbie... a fact that is shown in their hunting tactics.  They are after the same bounty, one worth a generous amount, and neither of them are willing to back down. Hawthorn comes off as a jerk various times during the hunt but always manages to redeem his self. Cayenne is fueled by extreme passion and refuses to back down and shows Hawthorn just how tough a pissed off woman can be. (I giggled at how cute they both became when they were angry.) I won't say who claims the money, but I will say I think it went to the right one! 

If you're looking for a sizzling hot read with two incredibly sexy elves, this book is for you! Hawthorn and Cayenne are both bad-asses in their own right and will fight their way into your heart and moisten your panties.
