Promises are made to be kept, never stolen. But that’s exactly what happened to Victoria Blane and Levi Manor. Tragedy strikes their perfect relationship leaving Victoria struggling to overcome the darkness that threatens to bury her.

With Victoria’s life in tatters she decides that running away is easier than dealing with her troubles. But when a friend finds her on the floor in her kitchen, she knows it’s time for a change.

Brighton Hanley knows what it’s like to lose someone. He knows what it’s like to be haunted by things that can never change. When he meets Victoria he recognizes the pain she’s trying to bury deep in her eyes. He knows she’s trying to run away, but he also knows that you can’t run forever.

Victoria is drawn to Brighton in ways she never expected. He becomes her champion, her life line… her sunshine in the darkness. But is Victoria ready to let go of the past and grab on to her future? Or will she run away from Brighton before she can be hurt again?

The smell reached her nose before she even opened her eyes and Victoria knew where she was. Back in the hospital, the hellhole. It had the distinct smell of cleaning supplies and death. Victoria couldn't understand why she was back here when she had finally made the decision to take care of the pain herself. Why had Kate arrived when she did? Did she expect something like this to happen? Slowly Victoria tried to move her limbs and felt the scratchy sheets beneath her skin. She looked over at the multiple stitches crisscrossing back and forth over her pale skin. This was her life. This what Victoria had done to herself. Her arm would never be the same again. But would anything else? She wasn't sure.

The landscape began to shift around them allowing Victoria to realize just how far they were going outside of her college campus.

“Levi? Where exactly are we going?” He gave her a devilish grin, “I’m not going to tell you that.”

She smiled back at him, “No really, where is this place? You haven’t told me hardly anything about the weekend! And you know how much I don’t like surprises.” She knew that about herself, the perfect type A personality. It didn’t really matter what was going on, Victoria just needed to be in the loop. Sometimes she felt bad for Levi when he tried to surprise her with things and she always found out, but she knew it was probably for the best, because she would just annoy him until he told her what was really going on anyway.

“It’s up near the ridge.  Why, you know somebody up there? Afraid we’re going to run into some crazy ex-boyfriend?” He chuckled to himself. Victoria watched as he started to relax allowing the tension from earlier to fall way. She liked seeing him like this, when he was happiest.

“No,” she said shyly. “I was just wondering, you know, if there would be a lot of people around.”

She noticed as the car accelerated quickly. “Is there a reason that you would like to be alone with me Victoria Blane?”

She smiled broadly. “I think you know the exact reason I want to be alone with you Levi Manor.” Victoria liked teasing him, it was her small power over him. Most of the time Levi was saying things to affect her.  It was nice when Victoria could have it the other way around.

“Levi? Are you all right? You’ve been so distracted all night.” She put down her spoon and made a heart shape with her hands. It was their secret message, to say “I love you” in a private way, even in the most public of places.

Levi looked up at her, his eyes gleaming by the candlelight, and he smiled. “Victoria, I have something for you.”

INTERVIEW

1.    Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi there! Thanks for having me on your blog! My name is Brina, I like hot pink, fantasy movies, Harry Potter and books. :)

2.    Is there a message in your novel Stealing Promises that you want readers to grasp?

Definitely! I want people in Victoria's situation to know there's hope, and there's help!

3.    Which character from Stealing Promises relates the most to you personally?

I'd like to think Kate. I'm not a hero like her, but I do try to save people, even when it's from themselves.

4.    When did you decide to become a writer?

I published my first book two years ago when I was unemployed. I've always had an overactive imagination so it just made sense to put what I wanted to read down on paper. I started with scifi for girls, which is hard to find, and what I love to read.

5.    What was the hardest thing about writing Stealing Promises?

The scenes when Victoria was really low. I cry right along with the reader, trust me.

6.    Do you have a strategy for finding reviewers?

My publicist Rachel at Mark My Words Book Publicity helps me.

7.    Are you currently working on any other projects?

I have a time travel romance and the next book in my bestselling scifi romance the Cryptid Tales series coming out this summer.
